Each year, since the troop was formed, we have gone to summer camp at Camp Horseshoe in Rising
Sun MD. This
is a great week for the Scouts and Leaders to enjoy the rugged lifestyle of
summer camp. The Scouts have an
opportunity to earn numerous merit badges and learn about many new things.
The troop participates in at least one event each month. Many of the events are multi night camping trips. The troop has camped at many Scout camps in PA, MD, NJ and NY as well as taking a trip to sleep on the Battleship, USS Massachusetts. We have also gone to Washington DC, the White House, the Pentagon, and the Smithsonian Institution’s Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Air and Space Center and many other historical monuments in the DC area.
Scouts have also had the opportunity to go on sailing trips to Chesapeake High Adventure Sailing Experience (CHASE), which is run by the Colonial VA Council. It is a week-long sailing trip on the Rappahannock River and the Chesapeake Bay in southern Virginia.
We also do day trips and events like bike rides, day hikes, orienteering meets, first aid meets and merit badge medleys.
